SBALL Opening Day Details

Parade Day: Saturday 4/1/23
Parade Start Time: 8:30 am

Parade Participants: SBALL Spring 2023 Teams with escort from SBISD Police
Parade Starting Location: Spring Woods High School Baseball/Natatorium Parking Lot off Tiger
Trail***

***Parking lot will be for Parade Floats only. All parents should park in the adjacent parking lot
in front of the Spring Woods High School Field House.

Parade Float Details: Should be a truck and or trailer decorated to honor the team, players,
coaches & team sponsor. Parade Float often uses a theme based on the team’s name. If the
team has a banner, it can also be included on the float.

Parade Float Prize: The league will award the team with the best float a $100 cash prize that
can be used towards the team’s end of season party. The prize will be given out that same day.

Team Banner: Each team is encouraged to make a Team Banner. The banner should honor the
team, players, coaches & sponsor. The banner can be used for Parade Float, Team Pictures &
displayed on the back of the team dugout for each game.

Team Banner Prize: The league will award the team with the best banner a $80 cash prize that
can be used towards the team’s end of season party. Only banners that are NOT professionally
made will be taking under consideration.

Float Participants: Parade Float should include coaches and/or parent escorts to make sure
players are displaying safe behavior. There should be 1 chaperone per 4 players for Tee-Ball, 1
chaperone per 6 players for Coach-Pitch and 1 chaperone for Minor, Intermediate & Seniors.
The chaperone should be with the players. Kids can toss out candy, but this also must be done
in a safe manner.

Parade Route: Parents, family, friends and neighbors can line up on the parade route to cheer
on the kids during the parade. This route is posted to the website.

Parade Ending Location: Same parking lot where the floats started. Parade will end no later
than 9:00am.

Post Parade Details: Once parade floats are parked, coaches should escort the players onto the
High School baseball field through the gate on the First Base side of the field. Bring a team
banner with the team if you have one.

The teams will be placed on the dirt outside the infield keeping the players off the dirt. Teams
will be lined up starting at first base as follows Tee-Ball Teams (10), Coach Pitch Teams (4),
Minor Teams (4), Intermediate (1) & Seniors (1).

Once all the teams are on the field, the parents will be invited into the infield grass to take
photos if the like. After this photo op, a brief Ceremony will begin. The ceremony will be 45
minutes or less.

Post Ceremony: Teams should be escorted off the field with players going to their parents. The
league has hired a Face Painter (leaving at 10:30) and a Balloon Twister (leaving at 11) that will
be available for free until their departure.

Other notes: The concession stand will be open until 11:30am.
SWHS Baseball team will be practicing after our ceremony so families are
welcome to stay and watch.

We are attempting to hire a Sport’s Memorabilia company to auction off
material with proceeds benefitting the league.
